SEAoT Dallas Technical CommitteeThe Technical Committee is charged with identifying and evaluating important changes to codes and standards, trends in jurisdictional policies and enforcement, and other activity that affects local structural engineers. The Committee works with the membership to develop position statements and other guidance to engineers, designers, constructors, and owners.
The main task of the Social Committee is to provide networking opportunities for members. When meetings moved to lunchtime, we lost the happy hour networking before meetings. In order to provide members some time to gather and get to know each other, catch up on changes in life and work, and generally have a good time, the Social Committee was created to organize happy hour gatherings and (beginning in 2016) the SEAoT Dallas Fall Banquet. There is usually minimal time commitment for this committee, but it is an excellent way to help the Chapter and meet the membership.
Scholarship & University Activities CommitteeSEAoT Dallas has endowed one scholarship at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). We currently have a student chapter of SEAoT at Texas A&M University- Commerce. The Chapter also disburses individual scholarships from time to time. The Scholarship Committee is charged with all university relations including the aforementioned activities.
