Topic 1: Joint Sealant Basics (1.0 PDH)
Presenter: Andrew (Drew) Parrish, Concrete Restoration Specialist
Abstract:
At the end of this program, participants will be able to: learn about different types of sealant’s technology and safe joint design; discuss installation guidelines and safety precautions; learn why joint sealants fail and the different types of failures; learn the health implications of dampness in buildings and why to seal an exterior joint helps to prevent them. They will also understand the joint sealants input to sustainability in construction and the long term environmental contribution.
Bio:
Drew Parrish is a Concrete Restoration and Waterproofing Specialist for Mapei’s CRS Division. He started his professional career in 2013 focusing on polyurethane adhesives for the roofing industry, servicing accounts in California, Nevada, and Arizona. That position led him to take on a roofing and waterproofing role in Texas, starting in late 2014, where he specialized in PVC membranes. In 2023, he decided to expand his construction knowledge and take a position focusing on concrete restoration and waterproofing. In his current role, he assists architects, engineers and contractors in specifying repair mortars, epoxies, grouts and liquid applied membranes for total building restoration needs.
Topic 2: Ethics and SEAoT Lobbying Efforts (1.0 PDH)
Presenter: Bill Stevens, Representative on Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission
Bio:
Bill Stevens began his career in 1999 as a lobbyist, trade association executive, and consultant in Austin and Washington, D.C. He served for 22 years as a founding officer, Executive Vice President, and Chief Lobbyist for the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, which represents around 3,000 independent oil and gas producers and service companies.
Currently, Stevens remains engaged in the oil and gas sector as a Texas state-appointed representative on the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. He is also a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Domestic Energy Producers Alliance (DEPA). Over the past 15 years, WindRiver, his consulting firm, has represented a diverse range of interests, including groundwater management, water desalination, financial institutions, film, education, and air purification.
Alongside his business partner and spouse, Salome Stevens, he operates WindRiver Associates LLC. The firm is currently contracted with the Structural Engineers Association of Texas (SEAoT) to design and implement a "Day at the Dome" event in conjunction with SEAoT's Annual Conference in February 2025.
